Hippo lodge is situated near Kafue River which is the longest river in Zambia. It is located on the east bank of Kafue River in the northern sector of Kafue national park. For the first time micro algea was identified in the surroundings of hippo lodge and it is mostly available in early summer. It was noted that the algae mostly increase during rainy season, and this is attributed to early spore or cyst of the algae of the existing flora developed during the summer season. The area surrounding the river contains a lot of stagnant water and this is where the algae are found in abundance. This type of algea is a rich source of biodiesel. Ulothrix subtilissima Rabh, 8. Spirogyra decimina (O. Muller) Kutzing, 9. Spirogyra ellipsospora Transeau, 10. Botryococcus braunii Kuetzing, 11. Cyclotella meneghiniana Kützing, 12. Synedra tabulata Her, 13. Synedra ulna (Nitzsch) Ehrenberg var. oxyrh. (Kutzing) Van Heurck, 14. Synedra dorsiventralis O. Muller, 15. Fragilaria capucina Desmaziere, 16.
